She is also recognised for her leading children practice; she advises parents on the arrangements following separation, including in high-conflict cases or where there are issues of domestic abuse or substance misuse. She also advises in relation to relocation applications and choice of school disputes and has a keen interest in surrogacy and fertility law.
Flora acts for a range of clients including city professionals, landowners, entrepreneurs, those in the entertainment and creative industries, homemakers, mothers and fathers, with an equal balance of male and female clients. She also advises families and trustees seeking to protect inherited wealth or family businesses from financial claims and family offices engaged in wealth protection planning. She is valued for combining tactical acumen and a commercial approach with sensitivity and discretion.
Flora has significant experience acting for high-profile individuals in the public eye. She works closely with specialists from our Reputation Management, Private Client, Immigration, Commercial and Intellectual Property teams to ensure her clients are provided with rounded advice tailored to their needs.
A significant proportion of Flora's cases have an international dimension, and she is held in high repute in the international family law market. Her cases involve her working closely with specialist lawyers in foreign jurisdictions to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Flora heads up the firm’s initiative in Spain and Portugal and has particular experience of cases involving these two jurisdictions as well as Italy, France, Switzerland, the Middle East, India and China. Flora is an active member of the Family Law Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats (an international association of lawyers) and regularly speaks on family law issues at international conferences (she was recently invited to speak on the subject of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 in Budapest). She is also a member of the British Spanish Law Association and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in London.
Flora has extensive experience of litigation at the highest level, but she is also a skilled negotiator and is committed to achieving cost-effective solutions outside of the court, settling her cases where appropriate and utilising all forms of NCDR (Non Court Dispute Resolution). She regularly advocates for the use of arbitration in family law (she was recently invited to speak on mediation and arbitration in family law in Rome).
