Farrer & Co LLP (trading as Farrer & Co) is a genuine law firm authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (“SRA”). Our office is based at 66 Lincoln’s Inn Field London WC2A 3LH. Our genuine contact number is 0203 375 7000 and enquiries can be sent to our [email protected] address.

The unauthorised use of law firm names and details of their partners and members of staff in written and electronic communications to unsuspecting members of the public in attempts to elicit financial gain is increasing.

These communications may include publicly-available information such as from transactions or reported Court cases. They may seek to redirect: (i) monies to be sent to this firm’s bank account; (ii) transaction monies to be sent to a third party; or (iii) payments to be made in litigation. There may also be instances where email accounts are compromised or emails are intercepted and third parties send messages purporting to be from us seeking to access or redirect your monies. This is called a “man-in-the-middle” or “push payment” fraud.

What to do if you suspect you’ve receive correspondence from us which is not genuine?

  • If you receive correspondence claiming to be from this firm or one of our partners or members of staff and are concerned that it may not be genuine, check the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting us or the named individual using the contact details above or on the individual’s website biography page.
  • We will never notify you by telephone or by email that this firm’s bank account details have changed. If you are ever directed to send money to a new bank account, telephone us and speak to the person dealing with your matter or the Accounts Department to verify the information before making any transfer.
  • If the correspondence is part of a confirmed scam we would encourage you to report the matter to “Action Fraud”, the National Fraud & Cyber Crime Reporting Centre at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ or on 0300 123 2040. We may seek to report the matter to the SRA who can issue a scam alert on their website found at https://www.sra.org.uk/consumers/scam-alerts/.
